The SSI Diver Stress and Rescue speciality program teach you the skills you need to protect yourself and other divers. You will learn how to identify stress, how to prevent accidents and be taught practical techniques to conduct rescues and provide emergency care.
Stress is a major contributor to rescue situations and diving incidents. You can improve your diving confidence and enjoyment by learning to recognize, handle and prevent stress-related situations. Recognising stress, and dealing with it at an early stage, is a critical component for preventing diving incidents. Diving emergencies are usually the result of a series of small, escalating errors – rather than one large mistake – that requires training and practice to recognise and correct.
The goal of the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue program is to provide you with the in-depth knowledge, skills and experience to quickly recognise and correct stressful and emergency situations in a variety of dive conditions and environments.
